Concerning the Constructicons:
There are three possible origins. They are:
1.) Created by Megatron as stated in episode 'Heavy Metal Wars'. Megatron said the Constructicons were worth the time they took to create them in these caverns.
2.)The secret of Omega Supreme. In this episode it outlines that the Constructicons were a team of Autobot technical repair team on Cybertron(and good friends of Omega Supreme)and Megatron turned them over to the Decepticon cause by way of the Robo- smasher. They betrayed Omega , and then fled Cybertron on a starship which Omega Supreme chased after and they came to Earth.
3.) In 'Five Faces of Darkness pt 4' it shows the Constructicons building Megatron which would contradict the above two entires.
So which one is the real version? Number two is the correct origin.
So how do we explain the other two explantions? Well concerning the first one, Megatron had to redesign the Constructicons to resemble earth sylte vehicles. So many think that Megatron was simply exaggerating his accomplishments by saying he created them.
What about the Five Faces of Darkness pt 4? Well since Megatron reprogrammed the Constructicons via Robo Smasher, then it could not have been them building Megatron. If you count how many Constructicons that were at the table there were 8 of them. This must be another Constructicon team since there are only 6 Constructicons as we know them.
Other bits of evidence:
-The statement that Long haul said in City of Steel, "I didn't join this outfit to become a dumptruck!" This would imply that Long Haul did in fact join and wasn't created to be a dump truck to begin with.
-The episode "Master Builders' when Scrapper tells Grapple that "Back on Cybertron we admired your work." This statement proves that the Constructicons were on Cybertron and not created on Earth as origin 1 would suggest.
So the Constructicons were Autobots and did in fact recieve life through Vector Sigma as epiosde 'The Key to Vector Sigma' indicates. Prime stated in that episode that Megatron had no way of giving cybernetic personalites(life) to the Stunticons on Earth.
So what of the Dinobots? Another good question indeed. The Dinobots were constructed on earth and not given life via Vector Sigma. So does that mean that the Dinobots do not have cybernetic personalites like the rest of the Autobots? That would explain why they are so slow witted. However we never actually see just how this process is done through the Dinobots. Is it possible that the Autobots had their personalites stored aboard the Ark like issue 14 of the U.S. comic book did with Tracks, Smokecsreen, Grapple, Skids, and Hoist in case of emergency to be used as reinforcements?
This would explain the sudden apperances of Warpath and Powerglide in episode 'A Prime Problem' when those two just appear out of nowhere without a explantion.
Another interseting point is how the Technobots were created as well by Grimlock in episode 'Grimlock's New Brain' without vector Sigma. Did Grimlock use Unicron's power to give them life? hmm, possible. But there are exceptions to every rule and the Technobots and the Dinobots would be this exception.
