It all begins with Ice Cream day in elementary school. Ice cream day was Friday and I would
often forget to ask for an extra quarter for the occassion. What to do! I did
not want to sit and watch everyone else eat ice cream on the playground. I finish
my classwork and doodle awhile waiting for the dreaded ice cream time to come.
A boy named Jonathan sitting beside me asks "Wow, are those Transformers?"
"Yes." I reply. He then asked if I could draw him Ravage. I drew him
Ravage. Then he asks for another. "I'll draw it for five cents." I
said "o.k." he said. I was amazed. I figured he say forget it. So
I agreed to draw another. Then a scheme popped into my head. "I'll draw
all you want for five cents a piece. I'll have to do them at home but I will
draw them." He liked my drawings and decided to prepay for a whole bunch
of them at five cents a piece. I had gotten my ice cream money! So the time
came to get ice cream and I was happy.
As for the drawings, I did go home and finish them up for him. Each week I would
draw Transformers for him. Some of the other class even got in on it. I made
around 30-50 cents a week. Sometimes enough for two ice creams, although we
were limited to one. This went on for some time. I can't remember how exactly
how long. My teacher finally told me school was not my personal art store. It
was fun while it lasted and I gotten what I wanted at the time. Ice Cream!
Hooray for Transformers! I'll never forget how the Transformers helped me get
my ice cream money. I found a reminder of this just the other day as I found
one of my old drawings. I drew this pic of Grimlock when I was eight years old.
